Rates Hold Steady: What It Means for GTA Owners and Tenants

On July 15, 2026, the Bank of Canada maintained its policy interest rate at 2.25%, continuing the stable rate environment in place since October 2025. The current rate is 0.50 percentage points lower than July 2025.

Key Interest Rate Indicators:


  • 2.25% Bank of Canada policy rate

  • 0.8% Projected year-over-year inflation

  • September 3, 2026 Next scheduled announcement


The Bank expects Canadian economic growth to gradually improve, with business investment projected to pick up modestly. Inflation remains elevated in the near term but is expected to return toward 2% in early 2027.
